Loggers Run Repair and Chipper Day Update

Rambling Ridge3:13 PM (1 minute ago)
to bcc: me

 Hello, Neighbors!

]We have two important topics to update you on:

For those participating in Chipper Day, the chipper crew will most likely be here tomorrow, Thursday, unless it rains.  Kenny has a finalized list of those participating.
Thank you for reserving your spot and for all the hard work to clean up the fallen branches.

Loggers Run will be getting a culvert repair and new drainpipe beginning Monday, April 28th.  This is closest to 19 Loggers Run near the stop sign and will likely take 2 days to repair.  The plan is to have one lane open at all times, but it will slow down the traffic flow as there will be heavy equipment and workers.

There could be a water disruption during those few days!   Aqua has been notified and requested to be on site during the pipe replacement.   Take the necessary precautions for a water outage by having your bathtub filled for flushing and drinking water on hand.

Red Flag warning: No Burning

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 10 PM EST THIS EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA..UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA..AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA

Red Flag Warning issued March 1 at 4:07AM EST until March 1 at 10:00PM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
…DANGEROUS FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS POSSIBLE TODAY…

.A dry cold front is expected to cross the area this afternoon
with gusty winds that will shift from southwest to northwest. Dry
air remains across the region, and once again the relative
humidity is expected to drop below 25 percent from late morning
through early this evening. The combination of these factors may
lead to dangerous fire weather conditions.

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued
a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is
in effect from 10 AM this morning to 10 PM EST this evening. This
replaces the Fire Weather Watch that was in effect but is no
longer.

* AFFECTED AREA…Cherokee, York, Rabun, Anderson, Abbeville,
Laurens, Union, Chester, Habersham, Stephens, Greenwood,
Franklin, Hart, Elbert, Avery, Alexander, Iredell, Davie,
Madison, Yancey, Mitchell, Swain, Haywood, Buncombe, Catawba,
Rowan, Graham, Northern Jackson, Macon, Southern Jackson,
Transylvania, Henderson, Cleveland, Lincoln, Gaston,
Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, Oconee Mountains, Pickens
Mountains, Greenville Mountains, Greater Oconee, Greater
Pickens, Central Greenville, Southern Greenville, Northern
Spartanburg, Southern Spartanburg, North Carolina Portion of
the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Caldwell Mountains,
Greater Caldwell, Burke Mountains, Greater Burke, McDowell
Mountains, Eastern McDowell, Rutherford Mountains, Greater
Rutherford, Polk Mountains and Eastern Polk.

* TIMING…From 10 AM this morning to 10 PM EST this evening.

* WINDS…West southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph,
shifting to northwest as a cold front moves through this
afternoon.

* HUMIDITY…20 to 25 percent in the mountain valleys up to 35
percent on the ridge tops. 15 to 25 percent outside the
mountains.

* IMPACTS…Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly.
Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, .or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

RR Road Closures

Hello Neighbors!

So far so good, the power went off at 5:50 am but was back on by 9:50 am here in Rambling Ridge.  I imagine we will lose it again when the Helene storm bands come through. Reports of 4-8 inches on the rain gauge here so far and an additional 7-10″ is likely.

Since a tropical warning has been issued, winds of 40-60mph are likely late tonight through Friday morning. Gusts may be as high as 70 to 80 mph, especially in higher locations, which will likely cause tree damage and power outage.
For those on Facebook, we have a private Rambling friends group that posts about issues in the neighborhood.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/1302093389819663

Thank you to those who went to work early this morning and reported back on the roads – we appreciate it!

Roads near us that are closed so far (best to just stay in if you don’t have to go out! )

Aqua Water Update 3 pm Wed

3:00 pm Aqua Update

The Aqua supervisor on site called me a few minutes ago to update on the repairs on Ramblewood. Water will be restored sometime between now and 7 pm to get our water back on.

DOT has not been helpful as they are shorthanded to come in to secure the pipe under the road. They told Aqua it would be 2 weeks. To avoid the delay, Aqua is bringing in big rocks and riprap on their own dime to secure it so our water can come back on. I’m calling the DOT to see if I can push them to come this week to fix the road issues.

One thing to clarify – The forceful amount of rain in the last few days caused a root ball on a large tree to be the main cause of this pipe break. Adding on a faulty drain at the end of that street. This was not Aqua’s fault this time – blame it on mother nature. I see that they are working hard to get the water back on for us.

If someone needs bottles of water, please reach out! Linda Heller 407-435-3135

Aqua Water shut off til Wednesday afternoon

Jan 9th, 9:30 pm Aqua update: Water will be shut off til Mid afternoon Wed

Alert – The Aqua supervisor called to report they cannot repair the break where it is. They tried to patch it enough for the night so we could have water but they were unable to.

A contractor is coming in tonight around 10 pm to look at the job to see if he can help tomorrow. They are trying to isolate the flow but that is a main line that is broken and feeds both sides of Rambling Ridge.  We will likely NOT have water until tomorrow mid-afternoon if you are an Aqua customer.

3 pm update – There is a main water break on Ramblewood off of Loggers Run. Aqua and DOT are on site to repair. Water will be a low trickle or shut off completely while they work.
