Hi Neighbors!
Hope you are staying warm and cozy during all this snowy weather!
Just a quick update on the NCDOT plowing schedule. I hear plows on Loggers now, thankfully, and hopefully going to the Rambling side. If your road is a state maintained road it will be plowed, if not it is up to you to hire someone to clear (maybe join in with your neighbors)
If you aren’t sure if your road is state maintained, see the map and zones here

Kris Frey found this map of our secondary roads –

A few days ago I called and emailed the DOT for their schedule for our neighborhood. We have many essential workers who need to get out as well as emergency vehicles getting in if needed. Here is the response and schedule:
The department’s snow clearing policy in order is:
- Interstate routes (I-26)
- Primary routes (US25, NC225, etc.)
- Secondary (main) routes (Kanuga Rd, Willow Rd, etc.)
- Secondary (other) routes (Cantrell Loop, etc.)
- Secondary (sub-divisions) (Rambling Ridge, Loggers Run, etc.)
- Unpaved secondary routes
“Unfortunately, we are extremely understaffed due to COVID-19, vacancies, etc. and I’ve recruited help from 5 other counties in our division to assist in the snow removal from this storm. I just got off the phone with a private contractor that is willing to work in the subdivisions tonight and tomorrow, so I’m trying to complete the necessary paperwork to let him work. I apologize for the delay in responding to this storm, but circumstances have overwhelmed us. I appreciate your patience and understanding and hopefully we will be in your neighborhood soon.”
